For nearly 20 years, family-owned, executive search firm has successfully conducted an employee satisfaction survey specifically for casino gaming executives.
Bristol Associates, an executive search firm since 1967, has made a huge impact in the Casino Gaming industry through its annual Executive Satisfaction Survey. In 2000, Bristol conducted the first survey in collaboration with Spectrum Gaming Group, an independent casino consultant agency. The annual survey has helped employers and Human Resources professionals in the industry understand and improve ways to retain their employees, while providing executives the opportunity to express their opinions about their current line of work.
As leading Casino Gaming industry peers in the early 2000s, Bristol’s second-generation owner, Jim Bright Jr., and Spectrum’s Managing Director, Michael Pollock, partnered up to create a survey to build and benefit their clientele. Initially the survey received around 150 responses, but has grown exponentially to now draw over 1,300 responses from casino executives nationwide. In recent years, Jim passed the survey down to his nephew, Ben Farber, while Michael passed the survey down to his son, Jeremy Pollock. Ben is currently Bristol’s third-generation owner and President. He has worked in the industry for over 15 years and currently leads Bristol’s Casino Gaming recruitment practice.
Ben shares, “Our Casino Executive Satisfaction survey has been a very compelling tool for our network of industry contacts. We help bridge the information gaps in our industry from one jurisdiction to another as well as highlight the differences among different ownership groups of all sizes, i.e. Corporate and Native American.”
The most popular portion of the survey is the top three employers of choice among casino multi-properties and large single-unit properties. Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida has maintained top employer of choice for the last four years. The survey also asks executives to rank priorities when choosing employers, evaluate their current satisfaction in the workplace, and assess their optimism when it comes to the future of their career. Based on the 2018 survey results, a third of casino executives selected Career Opportunity and Growth as the most important attribute when considering an employer, closely followed by Compensation and Corporate Culture. The results also show that 51% of executives are willing to relocate anywhere for the right job opportunity.
To this day, casino executives look forward to taking the survey each year, while casino companies have taken a more proactive approach to be included in the employers of choice portion of the survey. The 19th Annual Casino Gaming Executive Satisfaction Survey will be conducted in the Fall of 2019.
